Control what you can - a real life reminder that focus is key !!...
by David Bookout
The photo shows an almost surreal setting of U.S. Airways crash - Flight 1549 sitting in the Hudson River. As I viewed this story on MSNBC this evening I was also reading our year end survey results, and specifically the comments of one, very kind reader:
"I think 2009 is going to be a very challenging year and we need to continually be reminded to stay focused on those things that we CAN control, rather than all the negative stuff that's bombarding us."
The two just seemed to naturally go together, and this seemed like as good a time as any to underscore, highlight and celebrate the point one of our dear readers was kind enough to make. So, please join me in a silent acknowledgement - Hats off, and I'm sure many, many heartfelt thanks to U.S. Airways Captain Chesley B. ( Sully ) Sullenberger, and his incredible role this evening in staying focused on the things that he could control and bringing MANY more passengers back safely to Terra Firma than what is normally expected in in-flight crash circumstances !!

Amazing, not a single death? Sullenberger definitely has some skill. I didn't realise birds could be so dangerous.
Dear Rob,
Appreciate the comments, thank YOU !!
The post today about how fear affects / effects us is a take off on this post, and the incredible job Sullenberger did. Hope you like it, find it valuable too !!
